FAQ

 

Arriving there

All starting and finishing areas are located within the city centre of Basel. Marathon and half marathon runners will start in Freie Strasse next to Barfüsserplatz. We recommend everyone to arrive by tram (line 8 or 11) to Barfüsserplatz for there are no parking spaces available in the near surroundings. With one’s race number or confirmation of payment the use of public transport within the TNW area is free on the day of the race.

Late registrations

Late registrations are possible during the race number pick up on saturday and sunday (team marathon registration only on saturday).

 

Lost and Found

All items found during the event will be brought to the lost-property office Basel-Stadt and can be picked up from Tuesday onwards.

 

Medals

Finisher medals are included in the entry fee of every runner. You will receive your medal right after having passed the finish line.

 

Medical services

First-aid stations are situated in the finish area and along the route.

 

Pacemakers

The organisers provide experienced pacemakers over the distance of the marathon and the half-marathon. They will cover the whole course at a constant speed, making sure that all the runners who are following them to the finishing line just beat their respective finish times. Pacemakers are provided for the following finishing times:

Marathon
3:00 | 3:15 | 3:30 | 3:45 | 4:00 | 4:30 | 5:00

Half Marathon
1:30 | 1:45 | 2:00

 

Photo service

Through our official photo partner sportograf every racer ill have the possibility to order a souvenir picture of the race on their website.

 

Race numbers

The numbers for all the races can be picked up on Saturday, September 21nd before the IWB Basel Marathon at the runners' exhibition. The fair is free to anyone interested. The race numbers for the marathon, the half marathon and the 10k-run can also be picked up on Sunday morning right before the race in the Stadtcasino Basel.

 

Refreshments

A variety of refreshment stations are provided for runners along the route. They will hand out water, isotonic drinks, energy bars/gels and other restorative foods. The stands are evenly distributed over the course at intervals of around 3.5 km to ensure that all participants receive the best possible care. Change of registration 

If you have registered already but won’t be able to attend you can transcribe your place online to another person for a fee of CHF 15,-. It is also possible for you to change categories online.  

 

Starting times and time limits

 

Starting times for the individual races will be announced here, via facebook and through our newsletter as soon as they are set.
Time limits are: 5:30 hrs for the marathon, 3:00 hrs for the half marathon and 5:00 for the team marathon.

 

Toilets

Toilets will be provided at the start and finish. Some refreshment stations along the route will also have portable toilets.

 

Time keeping

Time keeping will be done by electronical chip. Please make sure that you approach a volunteer right after crossing the finishing line and have the chip taken off your bib. Otherwise we will have to charge you for the missing chip. Personal chips unfortunately cannot be used for the time keeping.

 

Valuables drop

During the race you will have the possibility to leave your valuables in a secure, guarded place labled "Wertsachendepot". Please note however that due to a shortage of space only cell phones, keys and wallets will be accepted.
